All Linky, No Thinky:

A blog by a guy who has already survived when the SHTF.

Grant Cunningham's blog turns three; he links to some of his best stuff in a retrospective post.

Tango Down mags in stock here. I'm still waiting to read Pat Rogers' eval; he's apparently giving a bunch of them a year-long thrashing in a pretty tough lab.

I don't really understand the idea of a sealed magazine.

I know mags are disposable items, but being able to replace the follower and spring is part of the disposable part, the mag body might just outlast it's original spring and follower.

Not that some enterprising soul might not come up with a floor plate kit to remove the magazine bottoms and install a floor plate in the future.

I picked up a couple TD mags from Brownells not that long ago. I haven't had them out to the range yet, but first impressions are that the ARC mags feel every bit as solid (if not more so) than my Magpul Pmags. The waffle design, while ugly, grips very positively.

I will likely pick up others here and there, but they are commanding a rather significant premium over Pmags or even regular GI style mags retrofit with the Magpul anti tilt follower. That, more than anything else, keeps me from stocking up on them.

I'm not sure that the sealed unit design is that big a drawback- as indestructible as they seem to be, I can't see the follower or spring giving you problems, and if the body cracks, well, you'd have hosed a Pmag or GI mag anyway.

$24 per, ouch.

Then again, has anyone heard anymore about the recent PMag crack/failure issues? I've got 3, but it's not like they get any serious abuse (or use, for that matter...)

(Hey, the TD mags come in translucent, I can get my G36-wannabe fix in!)

It appears to be confined to a specific batch and the failure has been corrected. I've never had a bad experience with any of my twelve, and Pat Rogers, Ed Foster, and James Yeager have all spoken very highly of them...

Good to hear - I caught something about it peripherally, but hadn't kept up.

And yeah, I'll give those endorsements just a wee bit of weight... ;)
