Can't brain yet this morning. Have the dumbs. Possibly because I was up 'til midnight playing this great new game I discovered. I don't know if y'all have heard of it; it's called World of Warcraft.
Thanks a lot, Marko; you're a real pal. If I ever get a heroin habit or something, I'll be sure to share.
WX in NH still bleh. I've run through the entire list of sun gods at Wikipedia, twice even, but still bupkis.
Young pup Henry, sensing my weakness, has been like a "No!"-seeking missile since he was freed from the durance vile of his crate at 0MG30. I am going to go perform the coffee ritual and see if the world looks better when viewed through caffeine-colored glasses.

Well, you're screwed now. Only thing that broke me of it was that I couldn't afford the subscription. They don't call it World of Warcrack for nothing.
Haha, what race/class are you playing. Somehow I jumped to troll hunter, but I'm not sure why.
This is why I won't play computer games: I know I have an addictive personality. But I had to be Baskin-Robbinsed out of it. (My semi-hostility towards 'em is often taken to be condescension. Nope, it's the wariness of a drunk towards the bottle.)
Rob,
I used to do LAN parties with my ex- and Marko every weekend. The three of us would Diablo II or Rogue Spear or NFS: Porsche Unleashed 'til we couldn't go on any longer.
After I broke up with my ex and Marko ran off and got all married up, I kinda cooled on the video games because solo gaming wasn't much fun.
By the time I started toying with the idea of online play (and I thought WoW looked awesome from the first time I saw it) my computer was too long in the tooth to play any of the cool new games.
So I get up here to New Hamster where, as Marko points out, there's no sales tax. And we're walking through their local warehouse shopping club past the computers, and I'm like "Wow, laptops have gotten cheap lately..." and Marko's like "If you think they're cheap here, we should go next door to Best Buy!"
Well... VFTP Command Central, a single-core 2.4GHz P4 on its second power supply, was due to celebrate its tenth birthday next year...
Yrro,
I'm working on a troll warrior and a blood elf hunter.
The hunter's more fun, which is odd, because I was strictly fighter/barbarian in Diablo & Diablo II.
RX,
It will probably wind up being the best way for communication-shy me to stay in touch with Marko, Robin, LabRat, and Stingray... :o
I started out with Ultima Online (which I played for about 4 years), switched to EverQuest for about a year, and gleefully jumped into Lord of the Rings Online with both feet when it came out, since I've been a Tolkien geek since childhood and always wanted an opportunity to wander about Middle-Earth. That has been fun, getting to meet and mingle with Gandalf, Frodo, Aragorn & co.
My first toon was a troll hunter. They're great to level up with, because they don't die very easily since they've got a pet to pretty much tank for them, but they are NOT an easy class to play when raiding. And everyone will hate you if you let your pet agro a mob at the wrong moment, which is really easy with a hunter. Good news is you probably don't have to worry about that until level 85 or 90 (my guess is you probably won't reach max until the next expansion comes out; it can take a while).
Neat thing about Warriors is that their DPS tree lets you eventually dual wield two-handers. Or, at least they did when I was playing; I've heard they've made a lot of changes since I last played.
Careful on that out of state purchase.
Given your non-submissive political position, I'm sure there's already a bureaucrat salivating over your next IN tax return.
The world always looks better through caffeine-colored glasses.
Never tried WoW, though I don't doubt its appeal. Back when I had (a little, anyway) time and money to spend on computer gaming, Warbirds/Dawn of Aces was my drug of choice. Did I ever tell you about the time I was XO of Grupul 7 Vanatoare, Romanian Air Force, and of No 10 Squadron, Royal Naval Air Service (the Black Flight -- tremble, mortals!)? At the same time, even?
The kids and the quest for the terminal degree put on hold my ta-pocketa-pocketa-pocketa pastime, but I got them into miniatures wargaming, so I don't lack for fun. I set 'em up with armies Crimean-era plastic figures painted as Imagi-Nations a la RL Stevenson with a Lear-esque backstory about a kingdom divided between two sons.
Why am I sensing a VFTP & Friends-centered WoW Guild in the offing?

Talk to Labrat. She is always ready to recruit competent hordies into her guild.
So, it begs the question: which server? And I can't say how pleased I am that you're Horde.
I've been too damn scared to touch these newfangled online games since my Age of Empires addiction got out of hand.
Mmm..Mm..Must resist.
We got a pretty good Mumble server, too, for the chattenings.
Got my regular e-mail, the one not attached to the blog?
Until now I hadn't realized how fortunate I am to have an unpredictably flaky DSL connection that would make it intolerably annoying if I were to try joining in a real-time RPG.
Bless you, AT&T.
LabRat,
"We got a pretty good Mumble server, too, for the chattenings.

Er, not handy. :o (New PC.)
I know that Marko and Robin have been making noises about holding my hand through Azeroth Mon and Tues eve...
Hope you made use of the "Recruit-a-Friend" promotion that game offers, the extra bonuses are quite handy.

I've got practice Monday nights (and Sunday afternoons, and Thursday nights), but I'll track you down sooner or later. Pretty sure Stingray's got your e-mail, if it's the one attached to your Battlenet account. :)
I'm excited as well that you chose horde.
Which is one of the most ridiculous examples of experiments in tribalism *ever*.
I started about a year after release on horde, quit and restarted a few times, now I'm with a bunch of good folks on Alliance in the Staghelm server.
6 Lvl 85 characters and counting ><
My hunter is the best damage and my Death Knight is the best tank of my characters. If you get an itching to try alliance feel free to look up and ask for Wyfaggro.
LOL my HTML-fu is lacking.
that should say "look up The Dread Pirates guild and ask for Wyfaggro"
Apparently the WoW convention of listing guild names clashes with the HTML tag symbols ;p
WoW Golds for sale! Many golds! Instant tranfer! Only $1235 for 50 golds! Order golds now! Pay with debit or Paypal. Sorry worthless T-Bills no accepted!
I played from launch until a few months ago. Sure, $10-15 a month for 7 years sounds like a lot (oh Jesus, that really is a lot), but I really cut back on all other gaming in the meantime.
Introducing someone to WoW at this point is just mean, especially since Diablo III comes out on the 15th.
I'm trying to resist, but D2 was like crack.
I think Keith wins the Internets.
I spent a lot of time on WOW and made a lot of friends there. But, I had to pull back some. A lot of the changes soured me on the game a little, but our first child coming along really took the remainder of our free time. I've looked at getting back into it recently.
However, I will be picking up Diablo III. I loved the original Diablo and was very upset that I never scraped up the cash for Diablo 2.
Anyone for Il2: Forgotten Battles? :-)
Caffeine-colored glasses, you say?
Try filling your coffee maker with Red Bull instead of water.
Buddy says he actually tried it once.
And ONLY once.
He says he "could hear the exact color of a deuterium molecule."
If nothing else, it should make for one hell of a blog title.
Cheers!
I miss playing D&D on a regular basis, but my old gaming group is scattered to the winds.
I haven't touched WoW for several reasons. The big ones are the monthly subscription fee would cut into ammo money and the fact that I'm already net addicted enough as it is. I do need to sleep and work sometime.
