It had somehow escaped my attention that Volvo did a saucy R-Design T5 version of their adorable C30 compact shooting brake. Paging Og...

You know I thought about one of those (base, not racy version) when I was hatch shopping.
But after 10 years as an Audi owner I was concerned that maintenance costs on anything European would kill the math on fitting an additional vehicle into my budget.
They are pretty nice... And sporty too!
I have come to the conclusion that I hammer vehicles too much to have a "Nice" vehicle as a daily driver, so I am resigned to having a beater to do the commute with .
This opens my life up to the possibility of having a "Toy", and the T5 is pretty high on that list. The Audi TT brake would be a contender too, if I won the lottery.
Dang, there's an '08 near my house for a couple grand less than I paid for the '05 Yota.
But it does have 30K more miles on it than my Matrix too.
I grew up with a hatchback (old wabbit) and carried all manner of humongous stuff in it despite its puny dimensons. That's a nice Volvo but the funny looking hatch has got to go. What's the point of all that storage room if you can't get a decent sized box through the hatch?

I've driven a couple and considered getting one the last time I was replacing my vehicle. It's a Cooper S for (marginally) civilized adults.
Now that SAAB is gone the T5 needs the license plate: ST 1.
I do hope I haven't entered the Dennis-Miller-Zone of obscure references.
I was looking to downsize and upgrade my old van. While roaming the lot at Germain Honda in Ann Arbor, I saw one of those. After a test drive, I bought it! Now I'm on the hook for a car payment for the first time in a few years, but it's a lot of fun to drive. Mine is a 6 speed manual transmission.
