- While we are obviously spiritual kin, this is not me.
- The inside of my 22/45 often looks like this. I find a dental pick useful, not for getting those hard-to-reach crevices spic and span, but for chiseling off the big chunks.
- I, too, am amazed when people on my team insist that "no idiots own guns, so these idiots must be paid plants from the other side!" Have you never been to a gun show?

Sometimes the idiocy crosses lines. I think there are more on the other side, just when ours screw up it is a national event, when theirs screw up it is meh.
I didn't k ow you were Australian.....
I didn't know you were Australian.....
Speaking as an engineer who once inadvertently shut down an entire lab by hitting a badly placed Big Red Button with my knee, there is no such thing as safety from yourself, let alone those on your own side.
Hee! I'm sure there are days when I have little Tamara's very expression firmly screwed onto my face. "Start now kid, and when you get to be my age you'll really be something!"
And yeah, idiots are everywhere. Sometimes (more often than I'd like) the most idiotic person in the room is me.
The idiot bug has the potential to strike anyone at anytime. It is no respecter of status, race or belief system. For some, the effect is momentary when it does. In others, once infected, the effects are not reversible. Sadly, the younger one is when infected, the more irreversible the infection seems. Vigilance and critical thinking seem the best deterrents.
Alas, stereotypes usually have some basis in fact. We want other people to believe all gun owners are cleancut straitlaced four-rule-obeying solid citizens, and maybe we want to believe it ourselves. But Bubba lives.
In the Wednesday Addams phase, obviously...
Working for a while behind the counter will dispel any notion of gun-owner superiority.
I used to deliver in East Price Hill, and it's a cesspool. I always mentally wrestled with my former employer's 'no firearms' policy when going there, and similar neighborhoods.
Over-The-Rhine (downtown Cinci) and Avondale get a lot of black-on-black gang-shooting airtime, but Price Hill is racially mixed, and the tension is often palpable. I never miss the opportunity to avoid it.
Yeah, we can make some pretty Stupid People here in Buckeyeland.
Just look at our Politicians.
