Bird

On the way to lunch yesterday with the Canon EOS 1D Mark IV & the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS.

200mm is actually a little short for birds, but the 1.3X crop factor of the old Canon APS-H sensor gives it a field of view equal to a 260mm lens on a full frame camera. Plus this robin was unusually patient.

Maybe I'll put it on the trusty old 7D today, where it'll have the equivalent of a 300mm focal length. (The 7D was Canon's APS-C workhorse for so long that it's hard for me to grasp that it was discontinued nine years ago. The 7D Mark II that followed it had an even longer run, only being officially discontinued sometime in '20 or '21. Used Mark II's are starting to get affordable as people trade them in on the new mirrorless R7.)
