Like talking to a wall. A small and insignificant wall.

So, there's this corner of the blogosphere populated by gun blogs, or blogs that are at least sometimes peripherally about guns. There are a few dozen of these active at any given time, and they have a pretty vibrant and active subculture of commenters and readers that get together for various meetups and range trips and whatnot.

Then there is the, for lack of a better term, "antigun blogosphere", which consists of four people whose combined daily traffic barely adds up to a slow hour at SayUncle and is made up entirely of Google spiders, people who were searching for jade jewelry on Bing and landed there by mistake, and gunbloggers there to argue.

I guess the latter must be fun, because folks spend an awful lot of time doing it, but I don't understand why.

"who were searching for jade jewelry on Bing"

LOL. You either find an anti site or a thousand websites to buy jade and gold on WoW.

They're not going to persuade me. I know they're unpersuasible. Why bother?

I dunno bouchoo, but I don't have the time. Been there, done that, invented the commemorative t-shirt.

At some point the only safe thing to do is nuke it from orbit.

My feelings are the same as Mark's; I've got better things to do than try to argue with idiots and bigots when all it does it get you banned from their site.

...On the other hand I do feel a bit left out. I've never been banned from an anti-gun blog.

You're trying to assign a logical thought pattern to an illogical person. you can't do this. their gun dislike is generally out of fear. fear isn't rational.

Wait, what?

Well, SOMEONE has to do it! Helps keep the Antis Riled up, and considering what they've done to try and destroy the 2A over the Decades, they deserve some Goose Sauce!

I find Joan Peterson's blog amusing, and posting on it seems to give me the same sense of squishy enjoyment that a child derives from picking up a rock and poking at what's underneath with a stick.

Wait, there are four people running anti-gun blogs?

Who's the fourth one?

As possibly one of the worst offenders (I'm from Maine, Arguing is the state sport!) I've set some rules of engagement.

#1. Don't comment on blogs that randomly moderate. (That rules them ALL out)
#2. Don't target lone crazies. It is indeed like getting in an argument with the random hobo yelling about the talking bees who smells like piss and cocaine.

I WILL discuss the writings of vetted members of anti-gun groups, because they chose the company they keep, and it betrays both their dire straits, but also the top-to-bottom insanity of these groups.

I can appreciate keeping them riled up, those two or three neurons rattling around in their empty brain-stem need some exercise - but not by me. I'm not their dog-walker.

Cocaine smells like something? I always figured it was like salt. I used to feel a need to get it on with internet morons about one thing or another, but now I mostly just laugh at them. I like to say I've matured, but mostly I think I've just become lazy.

Evidently I must have done or said something to upset poor Joan Peterson.

She's no longer allowing anything I post to go up on her website despite the fact that I've never engaged in ad-hominem attacks, used dirty words, or even so much as posted a sticking-my-tongue-out smilie.

In fact, the vast bulk of my posts and questions to her have been explanations for clarification of the positions she and her organization hold.

Poor little Joan doesn't even want to go to the length of answering basic questions about her positions.

I find this tremendously hilarious.

I used to be one of the folks who liked to argue with them. I got over it. People with more patience can handle it.

I used to get in arguments with anti gun people but finally gave up. You can never win. You can’t have an argument with someone when they consider the facts irrelevant.

Also why I generally don't bother arguing with whatever flavor collectivist happens to be around.

Joan has one of the best gun blogs on the internet!

Just read her comment section and one learns about gun laws, new guns, old guns, gun statistics, etc!

HER content sucks, but the rest rocks!

On the plus side THAT group can hold their blog meet in a phone booth in Chicago.

Weer'd's #2 rule of engagement made me lose it. Indeed, what does cocaine smell like? I rather enjoy talking to the lone crazy that acts like they just walked into a random spiderweb.

Nobody knows what cocaine smells like, and why is that? Because the first thing cocaine does to you when you snort it is anaesthetize the inside of your nose.

This should be obvious to anyone of the meanest understanding.
