Me: "I think I'm going to order this 'charcuterie plate'. I'm not sure what a charcuterie is, but it says something about sausage and cheese, so... Hang on, let me check my magic internets phone..."I even ate the whole slab of pâté. I had no idea that smooshed goose entrails could be so yummy.
D: *consults her portable magic elf box* "It says here that 'charcuterie' means smoked meats... like sausage..."
Me: "Okay, I am so there."

YAY! Free ice cream for all!!!
There is, in my mind, no finer meal than a piece of pate, a handful of caper berries, and a piece of sharp, fruity cheese with a glass of Chateau Rieussec, 99 or 97, followed by a poached pear drizzled in coffee sauce.
The restaurant where I used to go to collect said meal a few times a year is, sadly, no more.
I've found smoked meats and sausages go well served with pickled veggies. Makes for a nice contrast in flavors.
The French have a way of making awesome things make no sense. We do our own charcuterie. Around here, we just call it "smokin' sausage" :).
I'm still trying to figure out how "HOrton hears a Hoosier" ended up in the labels???
Smoked Meat! Besides the eating pleasure, just think of all the poor little PETA members who are seething right now.
We just got hot dog snobbery in OKC two months ago. Mutt's Amazing Hot Dogs.
The Jack Russel is great.

"Hey! Liver alone! Cheese a pal of mine."
Sounds like something Ford Prefect would be doing. Of course, these days the interwebs are almost as effective as the HitchHiker's Guide.
I just want one with a big smiley face and the words "Don't Panic"
On another completely (well, mostly) unrelated subject. I understand you are a beer connoisseur. I owe a friend who likes IPAs. What is a good recommendation? Stone? Ruination? Some other more obscure brand?
Glad you had fun! Hope you get some rain soon, to make it a great week.
Pate="entrails"? Not quite. Altho the typically do live next door to each other. I'll take the liver, you can have my share of the chitlins.
