Speaking of sub-calibre rounds, it occurs to me that they could have simply made a larger barrel and used the bun as sabots. Think how much more propellant they could have employed!

Since it has no buttstock and can be fired with one hand, I'm guessing that steel-core hot dogs are already a no-no.
