The iPod served this up the other day in the car, and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since:
You know, it's been many a year since I watched Cosmos...

Thank you. I listened to the YouTube version and now have my version of that music as well as the Blade Runner music queued in my player.
Sometimes, I watch the show just to hear Sagan's narration... his vocal qualities are soothing and relaxing. And then there is that music....
Craig
Me Too, Craig.
As I monitor the university machinery during my night shift, I often times have a Cosmos episode playing on my headphones (as background radiation) while I work.
The music along with talking about... factual stuff... I find rather soothing...
I may not agre with all of Carls' politics (or views on life for that matter), but I don't mind listening to it.
My wife and I just finished re-watching the whole series last month.
As Cond0010 says, I find a lot to disagree with Sagan*, but there's nobody I disagree with more pleasurable to listen to.
* Generally agree with him on the facts, but sometimes his interpretations go beyond the provable. For a guy who doesn't believe in a creator, he's got more reverence for creation than most people in my church.
alath,
"For a guy who doesn't believe in a creator, he's got more reverence for creation than most people in my church."
So do I, probably; so do I... ;)
I rather like that statement about faith, thamk you!
And Vangelis Papandreou is an artist.
A glorious dawn awaits ...
Kristopher,
Thank you very much for that link.
I LOVED that show.
I think my favorite Vangelis theme from that show was "Alpha", though. It was often used in the "starship" scenes.

And "Heaven and Hell" was the #1 reason my dad could never stay awake through an entire episode. Few pieces of music can match that one for sheer---I dunno, majesty. So much of the music on that show was a perfect fit for the subject.
Now you need to hear this one

I remember this from when I was a kid growing up in St. Louis. Still one of my favorite songs
