"The right to buy weapons is the right to be free." -A.E. van Vogt
This is one huge issue. On one hand we need HIS vote and every bit of support we can get to defend the Second Amendment. On the other hand how do we rein in the 'Mall Ninja" and their relatives without alienating them?I don't need a permit for any of my other Rights.
I hope to change him.
I mind a permit and safety cert more than just flat out being forbidden, but yeah... I don't need a permit and cert for a jury trial...
If a permit law would really put a stop to idiot shennigans, then I would be willing to enter into a discussion and give my reasons why I think the free exercise of liberties is more important than idiocy prevention. However, all history and experience have manifestly demonstrated that idiocy is completely impervious to bureaucratic processes. In fact, it often seems that idiocy thrives in a bureaucracy-rich environment. Therefore, I don't think the debate of liberty vs. idiocy prevention is worth having in the first place.
You could say that 3% of gun owners make it bad for everyone else.
I'd rather be Sumdood than ThatGuy, unfortunately ThatGuy often ends up on Jury Duty too...
