Is your Remington 11/87 gamer gun with its super-extended mag tube not nose-heavy enough?
Does your inertia-operated Benelli M1 still occasionally cycle, despite the SureFire forearm, side-saddle, tac-sling, full butt-cuff, and EOTech holosight damping the recoil of even the heaviest buckshot loads?
Do you sometimes look at your self-shucker and think "You know, this thing just doesn't have enough springs, moving parts, and fiddly bits to break off and tie it up"?
Have we got the accessory for you!

Oh, I dunno.
The thought of having 23 rounds of 12 gauge 00 buckshot in my 590 gives me the warm-n-fuzzies...
Go duct tape a 25-rd box of buckshot to the end of the barrel and tell me how it handles.
I'll bet it's a bitch to swing onto a target and not overshoot.
I saw that, and all I could think was "why?" I mean, it's just more stuff to break, and good lord would it make that gun muzzle heavy.
Tam,
Okay, that's a good point. Weight would be a not-inconsequential issue, especially after the last round's touched off... I'd imagine reloading wouldn't be an issue, because you'd need a couple days to recover...
I still think it's cool, though...
Caleb,
"Why"?
How about "because it makes Sarah Brady cry"?
:)
but- but- its not tactical! How can it be tactical if its not black? (the only pic my phone shows me is a silver one, apologies if the rest are black and hence fully tactical)
actually, dumbassery Could be considered a tactic.
Isn't it more practical to get a Saiga-12 with the 30 round drum ?
It's black and silver. That's tacticool, right? Looks like the perfect thing for ninja-pirate zombies. Or is it zombie ninja-pirates? I can never remember.
Maybe it will work on the swine flu too?
wv: strifyin
stir frying under the influence
Interesting and somewhat ingenious, yet still suffers from hampering the use of the weapon itself.
I'd sooner go the Saiga + detachables route (got the Saiga, don't have too many mags yet). 20 rounds of shotgun ammo has some weight to it, and while it would help combat felt recoil, as you say it will directly hamper maneuverability.
If you can't get it done with 6-9 rounds out of that scattergun, you maybe ought to have reached for the AR/AK/other rifle of choice instead. It isn't often that you're attacked by more than a dozen assailants at once.
I think it's really a new product from 'Bo-Flex' and within five range sessions you will have forearms and upper body development that will make 'Arnoold' whimper in envy.
(That is, of course, if it actually stays in one piece and really works in the first place.)

saiga? damn near killed him!
I truly don't get the fascination with these things. The Knoxx box mag is another answer to a question nobody is asking...
I mean, in LE/Mil circles these days, the shotgun is largely relegated to a breaching tool or for delivering less-lethal payloads like beanbags or baton rounds. And they're not using Saigas or Pancor Jackhammers or USAS-12's or other Ultimate! shotguns to do it...
I don't like drum mags full of 5.56 in the middle of a rifle.
I can't see liking twenty something odd rounds of 12ga at the END of a shotgun.
I don't get it.
And I mean that. I REALLY don't get it.
How long does it take how many hands to reload this thing?
At lesat with a drum mag you can change the damn thing out relativly quickly.
It would appear that this thing just makes reloading a shotgun take even longer.
** word verification "oventoti". Sounds Italian.
"I truly don't get the fascination with these things."It's... a shotgun. With a gazillion rounds in the magazine. One shot, big motherfucking hole (or a whole bunch of smaller ones), times a gazillion! Now that just has to hurt whatever's on the other end of the gun. ^^
(Or, alternatively, I've read Monster Hunter International one time too many.)
Seriously though, seems to me that the main issue with defensive shotguns is the capacity. In a firefight, you're not guaranteed to hit with every single shot, nor is even 00 shot a 100% guaranteed instant stopper. Nor does everyone have the option to play Neo and strap every single firearm in a 100km radius on them before the shooting starts, not to mention have perfect intel as to the amount and level of motivation of the opposition, so the whole "should've grabbed that thar AK instead" argument doesn't really sound that valid to me. So increasing the capacity seems to me to be, in theory, a good thing. Because, you know, big motherfucking holes! Of course, just like a graphical user interface is in theory sometimes a handy thing, that doesn't mean that one should use Windows... :) Theoretically good ideas can and often do suffer from poor execution. That doesn't mean the theory isn't valid, though. :)
(CAPTCHA: gobsent. If I were a religious type, or possibly merely wittier, you'd be reading a funny quip now instead of this boring drivel.)
...just the ticket for cougars and bears...
"I'll bet it's a bitch to swing onto a target and not overshoot."
Yeah, but think of the length of your shot string with a follow through like that! *wink*
Am I less of a man because I can't see the need for more than *one* accessory rail?
People hang entirely too much useless shit on their weapons.
Think of the "Street-Sweeper" wailing this will induce in our poor congress-critters! I want one for that reason alone.
As I understand it, these types of magazine extensions were originally designed for European practical shooting competitions where there was no limit on magazine capacity in the tube guns and before there were options like the Saiga or Molot mag-fed guns.
A technically interesting device, but I'm not in a big hurry to stick one on anything I own.
Pancor JackhammersAh, nostalgia. I loved the whole 'magazine turns into a landmine' part.
Looks to me like it was designed to fill the heretofore undefined niche of the crew served shotgun. Is this by any chance a French design? If you combined it with a quick-change barrel, it would be just the thing for stopping Zombie Banzai attacks. I don't see much use for it in the real world.
Wow... maybe, if you're considering getting one of those, you'd want to duct tape a bowling ball under the muzzle of your gun and try shooting, just to get the idea of how it will handle.
I have installed a few Knoxx box mags on Mossberg 500s, and my biggest concern with them is that they're very particular how you load the shells (have to make sure you stagger the rims so every one is forward of the rim of the shell beneath it, or you get a failure to feed).
On the other hand, I'm thinking maybe a 12 gauge Gatling gun might be the ticket... put a pintle mount in the back of my Samurai... now that would be a useful and practical firearm!
But doesn't it get in the way of your bayonet and throw the balance off on the butt stroke?
To all complaining about the front being to heavy, just make the butt stock out of lead. Balance is the key.
>And they're not using Saigas or >Pancor Jackhammers or USAS-12's or >other Ultimate! shotguns to do it...
Tam, I know law enforcement in the United STates favors more simplistic weapons, but don't the Russians use Saigas to some extent? Similarly, don't law enforcement in South Africa use USAS-12 to some limited extent?
In short, aren't there countries where it is done?
I knew a guy who was an armorer for a Sayeret (don't recall which one) and he claimed they had a SPAS-12 in storage, if that counts for anything.
"Tam, I know law enforcement in the United STates favors more simplistic weapons, but don't the Russians use Saigas to some extent? Similarly, don't law enforcement in South Africa use USAS-12 to some limited extent?"
"Simplistic"? WTF? I was referring to the fact that, except for limited specialty roles, the shotgun is going the way of the pistol caliber carbine. IE: Replaced by short rifle-caliber weapons.
And why would South African cops be using a South Korean shotgun that is bulky, heavy, and only works quasi-reliably with one load?
To whoever has the SPAS-12 in their armory: My condolences, and that would be a good place to leave it. There's nothing a SPAS does that an 870 won't do better except look cool in '80s SF movies.
Does it come with a tripod?
'Cause, shur-hail, after trying to hold the thing shouldered I'll need one.
