Overheard in the Office...

Bobbi is watching YouTube videos of Cletii doing tabletop reviews of crappy guns, for some reason.
Me: "'Cobb-ray'? Did he just say 'Cobb-ray'? Jesus, shut that ignorant cracker up, will you?"
YouTube: The place to go if you love lingering closeups of Cletus pointing sucky guns at his own hand.

(I do have to say that the original Cobray single-shot .410/.45 derringers were oddly charming in their unpretentiousness. It was the absolute minimum amount of stuff needed to set off a .410 shell in your hand without blowing your own fingers off, and didn't really pretend to be anything else.)

What's wrong with a gun that turns things into corn cobs?

I'd love a cobb-ray.

(Pew! Pew!)

Ooooo, I could feel the IQ leaching out as I watched, Tam.

I was laughing until I realized I have basically the same gun but not made by Cobray.

Just call me Cletus.

Of course, you could praise or make fun of just about any gun and there is a good chance I own it.

I need an intervention.

I'm so glad there wasn't youtube when I was younger. Come to think of it, no; I won't say it. -- Lyle

Lyle,

If we don't get made fun of for saying stupid shit, how will we know when we're saying stupid shit?

PS: Between this and the Luftwaffle Haus song, aren't we just all holier-than-thou tonight?

Sounds like they should be called Coprays.

Many years ago, was walking out of a gunshow held in a nearby rural town when I saw one of those single-shot .410 pistols (used) laying on a table. As I still had money in my pocket, and was loathe to leave the show premises so encumbered, I bought the little beast and a box of 2.5" shells (#6 shot, I think?).

On the way home, I convinced my friend to stop alongside of an empty pasture, where I placed a beverage can on top of a wooden fencepost and proceeded to load and fire the pistol in the general direction of said can.

I caught several pellets in various parts of my body and limbs as they ricocheted off the well-weathered soft wood post, although none of the pellets penetrated my skin or caused any serious injury (always wear your shooting glasses, kids!). The can was similarly damaged (that is, almost no damage at all), and I made a mental note that apparently a 2.5" .410 shell needed more than 3" of barrel (including chamber length) to get up enough velocity to do any meaningful work.

Conclusion: Learning can be fun! (If you survive the process)

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Tam; I had almost forgotten about that incident (as the friend, who used to remind me of it regularly, is no longer with us).

Are you two racists or just self-haters?
Does she say 'nigger' a lot around the house?

It's OK for us crackers to refer to ourselves as crackers.
