A very relaxed and laid-back kind of scandal.

Pop Quiz: The highest court in the land has ruled that Thailand's prime minister must step down because he scandalously...

A) Embezzled jillions of baht.
B) Was dipping the ministerial pen in the secretarial inkwell.
C) Was fighting in the War Room.
D) Had his own cooking show.

If you picked "D", you're absolutely right.

"Thailand: Where even the scandals are relaxed." I mean, there's your next Phuket travel brochure slogan right there.

You know, I can't help but think that if we had that sort of fervor over the interpretation of our constitution, maybe we'd be in a different place - possible better off...

According to La Wik, the following message was delivered during the 2006 coupe:

"The armed forces commander and the national police commander have successfully taken over Bangkok and the surrounding area in order to maintain peace and order. There has been no struggle. We ask for the cooperation of the public and ask your pardon for the inconvenience. Thank you and good night"

Even the coupes are polite!

Sorry, that should be "coup"

It is possible that coupes are laid back in Thailand as well.
