There's "upstate NY" as in, counties like Orange, Sulfolk, and Rockland, which surround NYC and function basically as bedroom communities, and then there's "Upstate NY" as in the vast farmland beyond those other counties.

She strikes me as the type that has bought her "country estate" and then proceeds to piss off her neighbors. She claims to speak for them, but I somehow doubt it - NYS is a whole other world than NYC.; 1:33 PM, September 04, 2007
