First down.

The RKBA ball has been moved up the field here in Tennessee with the passage of HB0962, which allows CCW in restaurants that serve alcohol.

Although it's progress, the bill is loaded with weasel words: "age-restricted venues" are a no-go, and a "curfew" amendment was added, stating that if you're packing heat, you have to get out by 11PM, no matter how good of a time you're having. Apparently 2300 hours is when the mischief starts; I'm not sure whether they pulled that time out of a hat or what. Still, it's progress.

FWIW, my new home state of Indiana allows folks to carry in "age-restricted venues" after 11PM, and they can even have a beer or two while doing so, and for some reason blood keeps not flowing in the aisles at the Broad Ripple Brew Pub. Go figure.

I use to live in Indiana. Remember the song, "Indiana wants me, Lord I can't go back there".

IIRC, Indiana does not allow the young to even be in a room licensed for serving alcohol. That struck me as odd.

Real Tennessee (not the ferny buffy part reserved for young modernes) has an anti-alcohol attitude that predates prohibition. Rural Tennesseans have marveled and clucked tongues as Wisconsinites told of family evenings at the local tavern. In Tenn. tradition, a bar served hard liquor straight, consumed by men who wanted to get drunk in a hurry, fight and weep. The Currier & Ives ruddy Englishness of ye olde coaching-stop, with all classes mingling together and a fine time had by all, is lost on them, and Crockett's memoirs tell you why.

Expect a harder transition in places where the drinking was, in every respect, harder.

Hell even here in Mass I met up with a buddy in a BAR, had myself a beer, then went on with my day. No need to disarm with any of it.

I don't know who these jokers are kidding.

Still it's a move in the right direction.

And cannot be in a place to view the bar. As if the sight of demon rum will cause children to explode.

Blood does not flow at the Broad Ripple brew pub because if you get in a gunfight it might cut into your bicycling or drum circle time.

Good to see Tennessee lose some of its backwardness on guns.

Next step--legalising the importation of toothbrushes and decriminalizing possession of dental floss! You go, Tennessee!

Maybe someday Indiana won't make you get a special card to take your pistol to the range.

Congratulations! I just hope the General Assembly here in Virginia has the brains to override our idiot Governor's veto of our restaurant ban repeal.

Yeah, well, if more people would have voted for Rex Early in '96 that would have happened. I only volunteered on the campaign, could not use my Jedi powers to have people do my bidding.

Besides, it's a $25 parade permit. This isn't California, we don't get something for nothing.

Pay your bill. Or as they say in Wookie "TANSTAAFL".
