New Year's Resolutions.

Since it's already the 4th of Nonuary (that's the period of time between New Year's Day and the day you actually start writing the correct year on checks) I figure it's high time I make me some of them Resolution things, so that I can be bitter and filled with self-recrimination by Valentine's Day like everybody else:
1) Stop procrastinating so much. Use that little notepad on my desk to keep a to-do list, and actually check stuff off it once in a while.

2) Be a better email correspondent. Make a point to answer at least two personal emails every morning. People like it when you reply to them and get sad when you don't.

3) Actually move the ball forward on turning Arms Room content into something salable.

Tam,

I'll tell you this right now, if #3 means you're putting together a weighty compendium of information on old firearms, I'll be one of the first in line to pick up a copy.

(and come begging for an autograph the next time you come house-sit for Marko...) :)

What's this "check" to which you refer, and why would I write a year on it?

:)

More pics in Arms Room would be fun and interesting to me, as would a few links to, or details on, cleaning and disassembly/reassembly of the beautiful oldies you feature, with pictures. Things that you sort of know by instinct and long experience, and don't even think about anymore, that we mere mortals must only guess at whilst looking at a used Colt .380 from before WWII, is what I am asking for.

Is it possible to do something like James Burke did in "Connections" and describe how an historical idea or a novel technological invention enabled and led to a firearm being invented?

What enabled JMB (pbuh) to create his several wonderful semiauto pistols, that was not there for previous designers of firearms? Other than his brain, of course?

Would a Stoner AR-15 without a plastic stock be too weighty to sell to the Army with walnut furniture?

I'll gladly pay you top dollar for a quality holster that will fit a 3" 610. Hell, I would be interested in two if you had them to spare. And you can stick that on your "salable" content tent pole.

I've noticed that Nonuary gets longer and longer. Probably has something to do with how I now use Credit Union "Bill Pay" instead of checks to pay for things.

1. Don't get too caught up in doing normal day work; it interferes with #3. :)

2. I gave up on emailing you 8 years ago, more or less. Nowadays, I just try to hit your phone.

3. Make it so. I'll buy a couple, so long as I can get 'em signed next time we meet.

4. Add a number 4: go travel and see your friends some more. We'd like that. :)

I would gladly pay extra for a signed copy of #3 the moment it became available.

I was thinking of a resolution to stop procrastinating, but I haven't got 'round to it just yet. Oh yeah; that Procrastinators Anonymous meeting that I think was scheduled for last week? I should have told you-- it’s been postponed until further notice. I was going to say something, but you know…things were kind of crazy, and… -- Lyle

Those placemats with the year names on them in Chinese restaurants?

Crap, is it Year of the Rabbit already? I'm still writing "Year of the Tiger" on my checks.

That joke is why my wife won't go for chinese food with me in January.
