Based on the first photo, I would have to say I would leave that waffle house rather than eat there.

I remember a night like that at The Stable INNfluence about 30 years ago, but the cast of characters was a little different -- some guy and his gay lover.

Whew doggie was that guy mad.

I'd stay to watch the fight.

Wait, was that you sitting at the counter Sunday morning? Scattered, smothered and covered!

If anyone is reading Albion's Seed and wants to know if the Scots Irish are still around in America, point them to this video.

That's more like a Denny's at 0400 Sunday morning. Stale beer, bacon and whisky smelled puke. Plus Cletus take'n a piss on the sidewalk in front the picture windows where all the booths are.

I showed this to a friend at work. He laughed and said when he was in the USMC, they would go to the Waffle House to watch the fights.

I believe Kid Rock got in at least one fight in a Waffle House. Hard to believe.

Been there, seen that... Love that vid.

Yep, at 3am its Krystal for food and Waffle House for entertainment.

(And that nut-shot at 3:21 was positively cringe-inducing.)

Redheads need to be left to highly trained professionals. Really.

If she'd been taking proper care of her man, he wouldn't be eating at the Waffle House...

(Having stirred the puddin', hobbles away quickly, cackling maniacally.)

Oh, c'mon. Think how disappointed you'd be if nobody made the MCP comment.

And thank you for the tip regarding Redneck Dinner Theatre.

Krystal for food.

For sufficiently, um, flexible definitions of food.

Not that it keeps me away... hangs head.

Love the place, haven't seen quite the knockdown dragout featured here, but quite a few late night/early morn domestic uh, issues.

Took my kids to one in Ga. when they were small; the W on the sign was out, they weren't as crazy about the S,S,&C as I am, and ever since it's been 'affle House to them.

Just to add: This is why domestic violence by women upon men is ignored!! ;-)

Man I feel so deprived, never been in one - but I finished Albion's Seed.

I eat at Waffle House a lot... mostly in Georgia... and don't run into this stuff. Y'all sure you're not getting your legs pulled?

Tam said...

mustanger,

I've lived most of my life in Georgia and Tennessee. Love Waffle House. Eaten there a lot.

You must not be going to the right ones. ;)

The Tarpon Springs, FL Waffle House at 3am is one of the most interesting places in the world to view the human condition.

Come for the waffles, stay for the psychology study; would you consider yourself a member of the control group?

Speak for yourself.

Sorry. Yes; I was speaking for myself, and almost everyone I know. We have some degree of the kinds of problems going on in the vid, even if it doesn't come to blows.

All good comedy has at least a grain of truth to it. In this case that particular truth lies at the heart of all the problems we discuss on these blogs.

And yes; I've been told to lighten up before, sometimes without having said a word. Once I was just sitting quietly while a buddy had a conversation with a waitress. After some time she simply blurted out, "Go to hell!" at me. I used to have that effect on people a lot. -- Lyle

Tam, I may not be going to the right ones. I remember 2am in one off I-75 once... there was nothin' goin' on there.

Lyle, I don't know... maybe she wished she was talking with you? Reverse psychology?

Tam said...

mustanger,

Oh, shoot, plenty of times you don't get any floor show at all; it's just when you're in one of the only places open for miles around at 0300, it's a drama magnet.

Now that more gas stations and fast food joints are open past midnight even in small towns, the place might be losing a bit of it's wee hour strangeness, and that's a little sad. :(

Can't believe Waffle House wouldn't allow you to film in one of their locations!
Been going to the Waffle House most of my adult life - I've never encountered such a ruckus while I was there. Even during the "late night drunk crowd" hours.
