There's a song in my heart!

I have promised myself to not be cynical on patriotic holidays, but pedaling back from Kroger with a bicycle basket brim-lippin' full of BATFE-compliant Class C Consumer Grade fireworks, my otherwise-unoccupied frontal lobes got to lyricizing...
Oh, beautiful for drone-filled skies
A tax code so arcane!
A voting class on their fat ass
From Houston to Fort Wayne!
America! America!
You voted stuff for free
You made your bed, ye overfed
Go watch some more TV!
There. I got that out of my system, and now I can be all festive and happy tomorrow.

I'm already gloomy, Tam. Said to a reloading buddy the other day: no nation that would elect Obama twice deserves to celebrate independence.

He was amused by that.

This post and poem would be a fitting epilogue to Brave New World. Maybe I'll spend some of my Independence Day sending my last handful of precious .22 downrange, rather than watching the idiot box all day.

I nominate Tam to sing that at the Super Bowl this year.

Happy Fourth. Be of good cheer. As a Frenchman one said, "My country, right or wrong." We will get through it.
