Books: If you tell anyone...

...that I am reading a compilation of romance short stories, I will come to your house and shoot you right in the kneecap. After I put down this kleenex.

(For Lois McMaster Bujold fans, your Vorkosigan Saga collection is not complete without the short, "Winterfair Gifts", contained herein, which takes place at Miles's wedding.)

My friend Byron informs me that it's unusually short on lesbian bondage ninjas for an S.M. Stirling work.

As to your next post: yes, he usually writes at least 11 pages - or more - and you enjoy his work. Which is what it's all about.

I haven't bought that book simply because I've heard that other than the Bujold story it's mostly dreck. I'm trying to convince myself to spend $8 for a short story. I'm sure I'll give in eventually.

Should be available from your local library. (Why people pay for books when they can read them for free....)

And no, this isn't one you will want to read over and over and... But it is a good story.

You want the real Bujold romances you need to read The Curse of Challion, Paladin of Souls and The Hallowed Hunt (Though I don't know if I can recommend the last one. The first 2 are good, considering there are no space battles, and no Miles VK.

In order for me to read 'Winterfair Gifts' Ms. Bujold will have to include it in her next collection of short stories.
