Behind Enemy Lines...

I'm back in Mordor on Lake Michigan for the first time since '84. Hyde Park, to be specific; the throbbing center of the O-Zone.

Posting may be sporadic 'til Sunday afternoon.

Watch out for Golom and The Evil One, that they don't creep up and slip away with you!

Tam,

Keep your sting ready lest you run afoul of Shelob.

If you like books, 57th Street Books. If you love books, the Seminary Bookstore. I'm trying to think of that place on Lincoln that has dinners from all sorts of different meats (elk, bear, bison, etc.), can't come up with it now - looks like a Wisconsin cabin on the inside, too. If you brought your Trek, the Lakefront Path is right. Freaking. There. And tonight was Critical Mass. You probably have a stocked itinerary, so I won't throw out 50 Chicago suggestions.

The Big Bowl on (near?) Michigan has some tasty Thai and drinks.

If I ever get back to Chicago I'm gonna visit the Frank Lloyd Wright houses.

So many great Restaurants in Hyde Park, #1 grab at least 3 friends, go out early for drinks, #2 switch venues for dinner, then #3 hit Trader Vic's (yeah, trendy, -but classic!) get a low lounge table by the bar, partly hidden by the palm trees, each have a Mai-Tai, then get one of those "served-in-a-trough-for-6-persons" drinks, and if you don't have the time of your life, well, don't go back to Chicago. OK, my folks were natives too, (Tinley Park & Markham)so I have go back for a good slosh now & then.
#4 Never, ever, live in Mordor.

Notify Gandalf. He can leave Frodo behind this time, though.

I guess my only concern is if you are toting Glamdring, or should it be Hadhafang, despite those silly laws 'round Mordor?

wv: uncival. Yes, they are, in Mordor.

Good. Can't stand that whiny little bastard. And that other guy, the one with the pots and pans hanging from his backpack...

WV=swate. Hm. "Don't get caught with a handgun in Hyde Park or the po-po will send SWATE after your shapely ass."

My condolences. You are in the heart of uber-liberal nonsense within the heart of uber-liberal tyrannical nonsense.

I escaped from there 6 years ago - North Shore, Evanston to be precise.

Get out while you can!!
