Today In History: If this be wookieism, make the most of it!


On this date in 1775, Patrick Henry donned his wookie suit and addressed the Virginia House of Burgesses:
It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace — but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!
He was, of course, sat down and told that grownups were hammering out improved compromise legislation with the King and that they were certain to pick up more friendly seats in Parliament in the next election cycle.

My team is dissatisfied that Obamaism is being contested? So, nationalised health care should have passed?

If people want to pout and stamp their feet and hold their breath, and curse the Republicans for not being in the majority, then I cannot stop them.

If you want satisfaction, that will have to be delayed until November. Lots of work and sacrifice, which does not involve a couch, sci fi novels, Star Treak re-runs or a bong, to do before November.

So tell me, then...should I go campaign for Mike DeWine for Ohio attorney general, because he he has the right frat pin?

DeWine, the gun-grabbing turd who was ushered to the nomination by his cousin, the current state GOP chair?

The incumbent, Richard Cordray, cosponsored the NRA amicus for McDonald.

Should the folks in Illinois likewise fall on their swords for Mark Kirk?

It amazes me. People still don't understand this isn't about political parties. There is one party amongst the ruling class in this nation and it no longer believes in individual freedom and productivity.

Please don't force the uncivil alternatives. Please stop dismissing valid concerns regarding liberty for future generations. I will not have my son in shackles regardless of the good intentions those shackles are attached to.

What's a wookie suit? Umpteenth time I've seen the term and I still don't know what it means or what it means in context.

That explains it! I was in Northern Iraq when you posted the definition, and your blog was blocked there.

I own two M-Ns and I'm a libertarian. No Millenium Falcon (cherokees don't do lightspeed). Does two-out-of-three make me a wookie-suiter?

I've had the same problem with other blogs at times. Google Reader seems to be the dependable workaround for that. If they don't block Google Reader, then no blog is blocked as long as you can subscribe to it.
