I may not have been the most stellar pistol shot of the weekend, but I redeemed myself okay when we got to fam-fire Para's new carbine.
We weren't keeping score, but I think I gave a bit of schooling. :)
More later...
PS: Sun poisoning sucks. Big rocks up off the ground.

Well done! If an instructor had to "pick" a weapon for a student to be good with, you could do a hell of a lot worse than the carbine!
Count yourself fortunate that you pistol skill challenges came under the observant eye of a talented instructor. Now, you know how to become better.
You're actually unfortunate if, when you have just a few days instruction with a top level instructor, you have one of those days when you're "on," and everything seems to come effortlessly. It gratifies the ego, but you leave the training session not knowing much more than you arrived with.
The folks who get the most out of training sessions are those who get to learn how to fix their bad habits. And the first step to that is having a talented instructor point out your bad habits in a way that makes you want to be better at what you do.
Sounds like you've had a successful weekend!
Looking forward to descriptions of the trip!
Bacitracin with zinc ointment will take the sting out of a sunburn overnight. I don't know how effective if the burn is realy severe. Use your sun screen!
So tell us about the Para carbine already! I haven't seen anything about one in the zines or on their site.
The desert gurus wear long sleeves and 360 brim hats, for just that reason. Sure, it's a little warmer, but warm beats hell out of crispy and body self-rejection.
Stay cool, friend.
Go Tam Rifles! I use this incredible waterproof stuff designed by a surfing dermatologist on Maui and don't burn.
If however I've been shooting nasty guns in the hot sun(Clash/"I shot the gun in the hot sun..."/), and decide to rub some on my shiny dome, if I don't wash my hands first I erupt all over in icky micro Vesuvius mode.
Hope your grandpa pulls through, I'm sorry about that.
Tamara was awesome on the rifle. Before she fired a single shot Todd said something to the effect, "I don't need to give you any suggestions, I can tell by the way you hold it you know what you are doing."
Shortly thereafter there was a steady "ping, ping, ping..." coming from down range until the rifle was empty.
Definitely. Your rifle-fu was far stronger than mine.
Yeah, but tell the truth. You didn't hear somebody say something about girls right before Tamara started ringing the gong?
I would have liked to see a man-on-woman run with Tam against Robb if there'd been time (and another rifle.) They were impressive.
I fought the gun the whole time, and it won.
On the other hand, you good shots can be as smug as you want, but I got 20 rounds. How many'd you get?
Being pitiful has its uses.
