Overheard on the way out the Door:

RX: "Would you like to take a cinnamon roll?"

Me: "No, that's not my traditional roadtrip food. My traditional roadtrip food is..."

RX: "I know. Slim Jims."

Me: "Tabasco-flavored Slim Jims."

RX: "Ugh. I wouldn't use that for a suppository."

Me: "Yikes! Neither would I!"

OMIGOD!!! Slim Jims RAWK!!!! Who'da thunk that meat-in-stickform would be so popular? And for breakfast at that? You're a girl after my own heart.

Now, after having polished off a 12 oz. bag of Jeff Foxworthy's Teryaki Beef Jerky, I can tell you that that is the best jerky I have had by far.

Eat enough Tabasco-flavored Slim Jims and that won't be a problem.

This brings a whole new perspective to "step into a slim jim." O_o

Yaknow, I just got a mental picture of Tam hunting Snapalopes. Instead of using traps made from laundry baskets or merely diving on them, I see her bayoneting them with a 1853 Enfield, complete with Pith Helmet. :)

I used to eat Slim Jims here in Iraq. I stopped after someone dropped their unwrapped Slim Jim on the ground and the starving iraqi dogs wouldn't touch it, hell the ants and flies wouldn't eat it. It just lay there for two weeks until I got tired of it and tossed it in the dumpster. Haven't had one since. YMMV

Yikes!

I've had a life long love affair with Tobasco sauce(I buy the large 12 oz. bottle), but reading that line just made me "clinch" big time.

You're close. It's a hollow bayonet; run the Snapalope through, then extract the 'Jim. Why do you think it's called a pig "sticker?"

Eat enough of them, Dave, and your "jim" won't be "slim" any more!

I thought everyone's official road trip food was Moon Pie.

I thought it was "engine" burritos.

wrap frozen burritos in foil, and using ingenuity strap or secure to the engine. I can usually wedge then in next to the valve cover.

Not especially gourmet, but cheap, clever, and thrifty.
