Investment tips.

Those with any liquid capital might want to look into investing in:

1) AR and AK magazines.
2) Burkha shops in Afghanistan.
3) Companies that publish those Tax Shelters for Dummies books.
4) Iranian aerospace firms.
5) English-to-Chinese business dictionaries.

On the other hand, if you have anything tied up in coal company stocks, domestic drilling operations, or Taiwanese or Israeli real estate, you might want to get out while the gettin' is good.

If you want to stay in the system, I recommend a degree in poli-sci from some university back east and a party membership card.

Acourse, we're both on the long list for our seditious propaganda bumper stickers, so I'd also recommend snowshoes and tickets to Saskatchewan.

Why, it's certainly no better a situation in Canuckistan. You're just not as likely to bump into, ya know, anyone, up there.

Not Sask. Alberta.

At least they're conservative there.

Don't forget the large diameter PVC pipes with end caps. Add to that some waterproof bags, dessicant, and a shovel.

Something to consider.

I'm tempted to go to the Goodman show in Nashville this weekend to see all the hullabaloo. I half expect to see $50 D&H mags.

Wait, Tam, you're implying that the market will react to external stimuli.

I thought we'd all decided that the market doesn't work, can't work, unless the dotgov tells it what to do.

verification? semet, so very close to semtex!

In Californistan TehParty only allows 10-round magazines - but there is no limit to how many.

I'm goin' huntin' with Dan Cooper!

I'll be at Tulsa this weekend, will post later how prices are there... I just ordered another 3000 rounds last night after I saw which way things are going...

So far I've invested in:

1 M16A1 upper with triangle handguards
1 bolt and carry handle for above
1 ITM AK74 receiver
1 Bulgi AK74 parts kit
2 Romy AKM parts kits
3 complete sets of compliance parts (tubes, trigger sets, grips)
1 pile of little bits and pieces from Brownells to fix 3 guns I have

I think magazines and ammo is the logical next step here. I hope to get to them before I run out of gauze for my credit card, which seems to have developed a clotting problem.

Ok, maybe one more AR lower.

Keyword "fooke". Needs an exclamation point :)

Shooter:

If you bury it, you might as well turn it in ... it's useless.

Sell it under the table to someone else. If you are afraid to store it at home, make a safe house somewhere ... a small RV in a rented pole-barn or storage yard will do.

Kristopher: people keep saying that, and it's just as ridiculous, every time.

In conflict, there's something to be said for the element of surprise.

If I've got 3 Evil Rifles, and I bury two of them in disparate locations, and turn one of them in when the Big Ban hits, then I look disarmed but am not.

Any "war" that got fought on the terms the Founding Fathers intended when they explicitly wrote down our right to keep and bears arms is going to be a guerilla conflict. Appearing less dangerous than you really are is a big step in guerilla warfare.

Ask the U.S. Army how "useless" the buried caches of weapons the Iraqis had have been.

Stocking up on AR lowers, AK mags, etc., rests on the assumption that AWB-II is just a re-incarnation of its late, nonlamented, forbear.

I am not so sure about that.

If we do get an AWB-II, I doubt it will come with a sunset clause. It is possible it will also lack a grandfather clause. It would be a breakthrough worthy of The Annointed One's legacy to pass the first real "Mr and Mrs America, turn 'em in or go to jail" gun ban.

The day that you start thinking about burying your guns in PVC tubes is the day you should be digging them up and using them.

I wouldn't sell my coal company stock; or, if there's a profit, sell now at the cheaper capital gains tax rate.

The "endangered species" are the electric utilities which use coal. The price of coal might fall back to well below its present more-than-doubled value, but sales to China will increase above today's level.

So, wait until after the Carbon Cap legislation clobbers the stock price for a while, and then buy in and hold for the long term.

We're going toward Third World: Income from raw materials and grains, not from industrial production. But, so long as China keeps out-sourcing its food...
