Blog Stuff: Overheard at Work.

Me: "My fingertips are about to split open. Handling all those 4473 forms has leached all the oils right out of my skin."

Co-worker: "Put some lotion on them. Don't you keep some girly lotion in your purse?"

Me: *roll eyes* "Sure, it's right next to my $%&@ing nail polish."

(Note to self: Little tube of lotion on vanity at home should go in purse tomorrow where it may actually do some fricken' good. And I should cowboy up and stop sucking on my dried-out, stinging fingertips because it looks goofy.)

Hey, every time someone fills out a 4473, means someone has bought a new gun.

Which means that Vulcan smiles.

Chapped fingers are a small price to pay.

Tyr, Mars Ultor, whoever; it's all good.

You don't mean to say there's something Gun Scrubber doesn't cure?

Well, since Gun Scrubber is a degrease, this would probably be more of a job for CLP. :D

I believe Hoppes #9 has some lubricative (nay, even moisturizing) qualities.

this is one of the few times where buying a "sample" size or travel size object makes sense. 99 cents at your local drug store and lasts for years. at least the one I put in my shaving kit about six years ago (demo job in Alaska) is still going strong.

pile of 4473s?

People worried about a new AWB, or just regular business?

Nothin' wrong about having a little can of Carmex floating around somewhere, and it beats the hell out of lotions.

I found that using liquid band-aid on my cracked fingertips really helps heal them.

Try Ballistol. It cleans guns AND is good for your skin.

Back when my wee wifey was a union cabinetmaker, she kept hand lotion in her toolbox. She got teased a lot, but by the time she left the trade many of the younger men she worked with were taking better care of their skin.

They never did figure out that the reason she still looked sick the day after playing hookey was that she hadn't put on any makeup.
