Double Plus Secret Illegal.

Apparently some low-rent thug got in trouble for threatening his fellow grocery store patrons by flashing the gat in his waistband at them. Maybe if they required a license for guns and ammunition?
Zinov was arrested and charged with assault by mean of dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Hmmm. Apparently Massachusetts does require a license for guns and ammunition, and he just neglected to get one.
Zinov was out on bail for several cases including another assault, where he is accused of trying to stab a police officer.
Wait, you mean he's under indictment for multiple felonies? But... but... then it would be illegal for him to have a gun! I mean, illegaller than it already was because he didn't have a permit in the state with some of the most draconian gun laws in the nation. The only solution would be to make it double plus secret illegal for criminals to have guns, then those criminals would obey the law.

Punish everyone; it's the only way.

That Unlicensed Possession Of Ammunition charge always cracks me up. Apparently, the legislators think this internal dialogue is going to take place: "Well, I've got my illegal gat, but I'm not gonna load it with illegal boolits. I mean, I'm not crazy; this here is Mass-a-frickin'-Choosetts! They'll nail me to the damned cross if I have those!"

BobS has been making it a trademark to post serious violent crime that does NOT involve a firearm.

The fact that thugs can ruin your day with or WITHOUT a gun, and the fact that the system seems to have little problem letting these violent goons wander free should be more than enough for most people to realize we need CRIMINAL CONTROL not any of the other kabuki.

So... Like... wait. What you are saying is we need a law making it against the law to break the law they already have?

Damn, this high level logic just confuses the heck out of me.

It seems like every gun crime story I read involves a person prohibited from ownership.

Nothing tells criminals "we're getting tough on crime" like restoring felons' voting rights...

Obviously MA law does not make gun crime more illegaler enough.

That's it.

These criminals will not be allowed to participate in the homecoming parade.

Bartley-Fox!! I LOL'd. That charge is the first one to get pleaded down, just ask the Boston resident sitting on NH's death row for cop killin' how many times Bartley-Fox was taken off the table because of his "troubled childhood"

Jay G. has written about the Mass ammunition laws that make possession of ammo components a felony. After my brother, who lives in massatwoshiites, takes a range trip with me, he has to check his shoe treads for errant brass lest he commit a felony crossing the state line back to Kennedyistan.
