Rolled Tide.
Apparently the Alabama football squadron took first prize in the Doritos Sheet Metal Bowl last night. Gunsmith Bob should be happy. Today would probably be a good day to get your heater 'smithed, as I imagine he's whistling while he works.
For all that I'm a Longhorn fan, hey, the Tide won. "woulda/coulda/shoulda" is a waste of time.
What impressed me about the game, overall, was the performance of the Texas QB, Gilbert.
Imagine coming in cold, maybe 19 or 20 years old, on national TV in the national championship game--and hardly any real-game experience. Few of us have ever experienced that sort of emotional load, or ever will.
One thing for sure: That kid now knows how to perform under pressure.
Think about some kid coming from a course at Gunsite, and winding up in a heads-up match with Leatham or Miculek...
That's the difference between Los Alamos and Oak Ridge, I guess.
It wasn't 'til I moved to K-Town that I heard a roomful of nerds that contained twice as many advanced degrees as people delay the start of the weekly D&D game to have a thoughtful discussion on the potential of the UT Vols' passing offense this year.
When you consider the time-rate of assimilation of visual information and the complexity of the plays, you will find that quarterbacks are of PhD mentality. Psychologists have concluded that to be a starting quarterback in the NFL requires an IQ of at least 125.
True, but "Smart" and "Nerd" are not necessarily synonyms: we've all known some pretty erudite jocks who cared nothing for reading fiction of any sort and met some D&D-playing geeks without the mental horsepower to spark an original thought.

Meh...
I'm a fan of that 'other team' in Alabama. Nice to see another SEC team take the big win though.
I do have to give props to Texas, though. It seemed mighty bleak for them but they managed to make a game of it until the wheels came off at the end.

""We back," said Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, the offensive MVP."
.....Obviously not an English Major.
"Student Athletes"? Really?
Sometimes
It irks me that this was not news to me, because two guildies were giving color commentary all raid night yesterday.
Dammit, it used to be that the kind of nerds that care about football and the kind that play online video games kept the hell away from each other...
LabRat,

Why, yes. Bob whistled all day. And now he's taking the day off to rest and recuperate.
