Don Gwinn tees off...

...on celebrity "experts" (always a fun topic.)

Apparently Jodie Foster thinks that, since noted biochemist Meryl Streep can testify before Congress on the Alar scare, then folks should listen to her own Oscar-heavy opinions on weighty political matters like gun control.

Don disagrees.

I don't really have anything against Jodie Foster for speaking her mind--we all think we're brilliant, don't we? I know I do.

I just want everyone to keep her qualifications in mind and consider the source. :)

She's qualified to speak about firearms since she was in "Taxi Driver" and, afterall, there were handguns used in the film.

I can't document it, but I recall hearing a year or two post-Alar that Meryl Streep said more or less that NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) had sold her a bill of goods, and that she regretted getting mixed up in it.

Even if it's true, it's not to say Ms. Streep is about to join the NRA board or sing "Happy Birthday" Marilyn Monroe-style to Norman Borlaug, but still, credit where due.

The irony of hearing that she said something like that is only surpassed by the Brady bunch handing her a script that inane to read.

Seems she has a new movie out in Sept as a female version of Bronson's vigilante. Hmmm, "do as I say, not as I do". Typical.
