C-c-c-c-c-cold!

While it's a balmy 60 degrees Fahrenheit here at Roseholme Cottage today, I found this old article on hypothermia fascinating.

I don't think I have ever seen soft snow at -27.

Life sucks at -40. The worst part is warming up, perversely. That hurts.

"Then it turned and trotted up the trail in the direction of the camp it knew, where were the other food-providers and fire-providers."

First northern winter hits you kind of hard, huh?

Hmm. I'm going to have to go dig that out of the archives. I remember two different scenarios presented, one not as rosy. I found it fascinating when I first read it in 1997 and it still was.

BTW, been a subscriber to that publication for twenty-some years.

Absolutely fascinating! I hate the cold with a passion...I made my daughter read this, since she's heading to North Dakota to attend college in the fall...brrrrrrr.

Check out a great Jack London short story, I'm certain available online, called "To Build A Fire". Chilling, in every sense of the word.
