"Gonzo Political Corruption Stories"

"When you have gonzo political corruption stories, you cover them."-Rachel Maddow, the capo di tutti capi at MSNBC

But when I plug "msnbc yee" into Google? The only thing that gets covered is my screen, with blank space:
Three results. "msnbc christie" got 4,260.
I guess what Rachel meant to say was "When you have gonzo Republican political corruption stories, you cover them."

Local crime story. Nothing here for the national stage. He was a STATE senator. Move along. Did you hear about the plane that disappeared in the Indian Ocean!?!?

In Rachel's defense, Yee was likely just following White House orders. I hear the operation was named Fast & Furious - Hong Kong Drift.

This is a real head-scratcher for me. Not the PMSNBC-Madcow thing. That's de riguer. (sic) I'm having trouble understanding why YOU bother to even take note of anything "that woman" says.

Mark,

As I've said before, at least MSNBC and NPR have the courtesy to bullshit me polysyllabically.

Gonzo means large.
Chris Christie is large, jet aircraft are large.

Yee not as large as Christie or a jet aircraft.

Yee can not be gonzo, so no coverage for you!

Perfect MSNBC logic.

I learned what gonzo meant from reading Hunter S. Thompson back when Nixon was in office.

That word Ms. Maddow keeps using? I don't think it means what Ms. Maddow thinks it means.

I thought gonzo was drugged out of your mind and writing?

ModCow, and for that matter NPR, is only honest when we have a republican administration.

All you ever need to know is Politician = Criminal.

Paul, as an NPR listener through several Republican administrations, I can assure you that no, they've never been honest. Decent in-depth reporting, but always with the blinders on. And sometimes they manage to cover things that don't fall into their blind spots.

Ah, the curious case of the dog in the night-time. If you wish to know what important thing is going on out there, observe what the MSNBC apologists aren't talking about.

I do a search on nbcnews for "yee" and then for "leland": zero stories. I do a search for "christie" and hey! Look at all the stories about a traffic jam in Jersey! So much more important than an American politician trying to buy shoulder-fired rockets on the black market...

Tam, I think you may have left the last word out of that quote:

"When you have gonzo political corruption stories, you cover them..." "up."

Leland Yee is not a Muppet with blue fur and a long hooked nose, so, no coverage.

Maddow's more like the cazzo di tutti cazzi, methinks.

I think she actually meant, ""When you have gonzo political corruption stories, you cover them."

Made the mistake of turning on the electronic lobotomy tube today. Yep, no mention of the (4) dem indictments/complaints this week, but four minutes of skepticism about some paper clearing Christie in the traffic jam thing.

Yee wasn't just some meathead, he was some meathead who was #2 dude in the state Senate in the most populous state in the union.

Come to think of it, all four of the dems who went down, AND Christie, are all anti-gun.

I always know that when I don't understand a word or phrase in Tam's blog it is worth googling.

I now add, courtesy of Alex, that naughty commenter, the rule that it is also worth googling unknown words and phrases in the comments.

I just listened to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.

There was a Christie question, but no Yee.

To be fair, they may not know. It's not really in the news, is it?

The Christie coverage is better than the usual media coverage of Republicans who might be presidential candidates, which is to anoint the least conservative one until he has sufficient delegates locked in to win the nomination, and _then_ assassinate his character.

Damnit, I really should consider turning the TV on once in a while (other than to watch DVDs). . .
