Today In History: Ad astra per nazis...

On this day in 1942 the human race took a great step along our road to the stars, as the first man-made object made it off the planet's surface and into space.

The downside, of course, is that it was a Nazi ballistic missile.

Yep. Wouldn't have made it to the moon except for Nazi scientists and unethical experimentation - including Rascher's vivisections of concentration camp inmates used in altitude and oxygen deprivation experiments. The Nazis didn't lose the war, they simply moved...
