Overheard in the hallway...

RX: "Joining the circus would be a good way to get away from me."

Me: "That's right, you'd never go to the circus. Are you scared of clowns?"

RX: "Other people are scared of clowns; I'm scared of ringmasters. Although I don't much like discordant clowns. They're kinda scary."

Me: "Discordian clowns? Y'know, I'll bet you more clowns are Discordians than you know. fnord"

RX: "...or they know."

Me: "Oh, they know, all right; they know. You can only imagine what goes on in those clown cabal meetings."

Sometimes it can get incredibly surreal here at Roseholme Cottage.

Even worse than the Discordian clowns are the Midgets...

Bobbi is scared of ringmasters yet she wears t-shirts with guys in top hats all the time.

Hmmmm, you guys could keep the Psych Department at IUPUI busy for years!

*Scene: New York Street, downtown Indy, dual therapy session*

Dr. of Shrinkology: Now, Bobbi, put down the pistol and show me on the Wookie where the top hat goes on Chewie doll.

And, Tamara, use these Wookie action figures to act out how you feel about Ron Paul.

Wow...I literally just finished struggling through that trilogy. Kinda wierds me out to see references to Discordians and fnords days after completing the mental gymnastics necessary to get through those books.

Gawd! That freakin' three part pile of crap was the hardest series of books I ever waded through, mostly because every page was chock full of piss-me-the-hell-off bullshit. The only reason I actually finished it was sheer stubbornness, and afterwards I wanted to hunt down Wilson with a tire iron and extract patment.

And clowns are not Discordian, they're sheer evil. Kids are frightened of them for a very good reason. Kids know.

RevGreg beat me to the punch, as I opened comments to ask: "Shouldn't there be a laughing midget, somewhere around here? Or a dwarf? Little People of some kind? (a new term that makes the former terms into pejoratives, which is surreal in its own right.)"

You might look at this post, the last sentence seems to have wandered in from elsewhere and has no connection with the rest of it.

You two are my favorite surrealists.

I'm not so much frightened of ringmasters as I am reluctant to support their activities... ;)

"I don't like clowns", the Captain said. "They smack of mime."
