"They say it got smart; a new order of intelligence..."

When I first started using Blogger's captcha word-verifications, it was handing out letter salad, meaningless clusters of vowels and consonants like a drunken Welshman had vomited on the keyboard.

Gradually, over time, the verification words became less random, more word-like.

Yesterday at my roomie's blog it handed me "hawkdog", which is the pocketknife I frequently carry.

Lock and load, people; SkyNet is waking up.

You're dang tootin' Skynet is waking up and Assrot developed the chip and wrote the code.

The Bad Guys now outsource CAPTCHA breaking to the far east (no, I'm not making this up).

Basically, you buy Joe The Black Hat's nifty software library that you embed in your own malware. When your malware tries to infect a web server and hits a CAPTCHA, some poor sod in Vietnam gets the CAPTCHA sent to his screen.

There are even Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for response time, on the order of 5 seconds.

If the choice is between Skynet and the Zombie army of asian sweatshop CAPTCHA monkeys, Skynet doesn't stand a chance.

Unfortunately, nor do we. :-p
