Like SWATting a bug. An innocent citizen bug.

Few people would dispute that an armed murder suspect running loose in suburbia is a legitimate reason for a SWAT deployment; after all, "armed, barricaded suspect with hostages" is pretty much the raison d'être for the whole SWAT concept in the first place.

Deploying a perimeter and then assaulting an occupied house, all on the basis of a "He went thattaway!" is a little tenuous.

Not cleaning up your own mess is frickin' inexcusable.

Got to be an ambulance chaser willing to take this one.

The city is acting quickly to see that the victim is not overly inconvenienced: Someone will contact him "...in a couple days."

Meantime, his house is trashed, it reeks of tear gas, etc. The whole affair smells worse than the gas, methinks.

One of my favourite quotations from hostage negotiation school-

"A barricaded subject without hostages is a win-win situation. Only you can f*ck it up.""

SWAT is to peace officers as street racers are to motorcyclists. They're both making everybody else look bad.

Minneapolis and St. Paul has had a string of problems lately. Didn't stop the MPD SWATies from getting medals for shooting up the wrong house while the family was inside. Bravery for taking fire in the line of duty my ass!

Booted a door once on a "Medical Assist" Call. Turns out the lady had left the residence and driven herself to the Hospital. Secured it as best we could but still wasn't like new. She got home and called me. I told to fix the door and send me the bill. We took care of it.

PA State Cop,

Thank you. That's the way it should be done.
