When you think your job title is "Lawmaker", what do you do?

Kevin hits a home run with his latest essay:
So, in balance our government has managed to accomplish some good, but the question I have is "how much and at what cost?"

I think it was Heinlein who once suggested one house that could only make laws and another that could only repeal them.

The problem with "lawmakers" is they only have that one hammer and they feel pretty useless if they don't use it.
