"Despicable" depends on who's doing it...

In a snippet I discovered via a link titled "Tea Party to burn Pelosi effigy", I was treated to this awesome quote:
When news of the rally surfaced Friday, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen condemned the plans as "shocking and despicable."
Van Hollen, apparently a stranger to irony, is also gifted with a short and highly selective memory.

Hey, Chris, maybe they're just speaking truth to power. It's certainly not because they're celebrating!

Where have you been? Everyone knows it's in hideously poor taste to burn Democrats in effigy. It's far to gauche. Much better to burn Bush - all the cool kids did that.

At a red light today, I was behind a car with a "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" sticker. It had obviously been on the bumper for at least five years. The only thing keeping me from an argument in the middle of the road was the fact that I had a box of butter in the passenger seat, and I didn't want it to melt in the sun while I got arrested.

Now, I'm 100% in favor of burning, hanging, drawing and quartering, in no particular order, ANY would-be ruler. Maybe even in effigy. But is there anything to suggest that this guy wasn't just as shocked and dismayed at the GWB burning?

Bet you a quarter that if he was, he sure kept his cakehole shut on the topic.

How can you compare the right wing terrorist Bush, to the left wing freedom fighter Pelosi? *sigh*

Almost all of those burning Bush effigies shown in that Google Images link in your post happened overseas, mostly middle east/Pakistan. Maybe despicable, but a normal happening in those parts.
Didn't see any burning Bush effigies pictured from Virginia.

Did you not click the video link? Guess not.

Well, I reckon DC isn't technically Virginian.

Where were you for the last eight years?

Van Hollen's motto: "We can take hypocrisy to ever-higher levels."

Scott, when did the Democrats ever state publicly that burnings in effigy by anybody, anywhere, were shocking and despicable?
