Moved.

I'm packing the car for the trip home, and a more detailed post is forthcoming when I get back, but here's the Cliff's Notes version:

I went to pick up my car yesterday, I called my roomie to let her know the score and give her an ETA. Gunsmith Bob and I figured that, since I was here for an extra night, we might as well make use of our ticket stubs from Wednesday night's rained out game and go watch the Smokies play before I drove home.

It was a great game, complete with a come-from-behind win in the bottom of the ninth, and the giddy silliness of a minor league ballpark was what I needed to take my mind off the automotive trauma.

Unbeknownst to me, a couple folks decided to point out my open guitar case on the sidewalk while I was away. When I dragged home late last night and opened my email before falling into bed, I nearly started crying. Thank you everybody. You can stop now, really. I'm already going to be spending my first afternoon home writing thank-you notes.

I've got to finish packing the car so I can head back north, and I've got a fun-filled post to write about the Bimmer Adventure when I get there. Catch y'all on the flip side...

No sweat girl. Just get back home safe. Just like the old Bessie Smith song: "Nobody Knows You When You Are Down And Out"
That is unless you are surrounded by people that knows what it is like to be down and out. Either way- It's always important to remember the feeling.

Get back safe!

Hmmm. *checks busy social calendar*

So, dinner's is off then? Looks like it's take out Thai, laundry, and some gun cleaning, um, er, I mean partying down with Tiffany and Amber tonight.

See you Sunday. Be on the lookout for deer, buzzards and other road hazards (jerky stands).

Would loved to have helped out but you have no way of making a donation anonymously.

Even though I am a tofuista, I am also a threeper amidst a world of liberal bliss ninnies. There is nothing they would love better than to ruin my livelihood.

I have to fly under the radar until I retire. Maybe you could post a P.O. Box address where one could send an anonymous money order in the future?

Glad things worked out. I enjoy your blog and would think nothing of sending a few bucks to help in such situations. Believe me, I've been there. Long way from home, broke down and broke is not a good place to be.

When one of the finest S&W collections in private hands is threatened, we must spring to action.

Doesn't hurt that we like your writing for our amusement, either.

I didn't want to see you have to get rid of guns. I know how upsetting that is.

You've done a lot for me over the years, often pretty casually so you might not realize how it all adds up.

If I'd realized I could make a donation without setting up a PayPal account, I'd have made a donation long ago. Consider it a voluntary subscription fee.

I'd suggest you buy a round at the Blogmeet tomorrow if you have a surplus of donations.

You should NEVER have to sell guns to fix a damn car...

Tam,
Did you receive enough to cover the repair entire?

Tam said...

Pretty much, yes.

Srsly folks, everything's cool now. Bless y'all for your help. Between cyberspace and meatspace, everything's covered on this end.

If you're just absolutely dying to throw cash in the tip jar, don't let me stop you, but the crisis has passed.

Gotta get to thank-you-note-writing now...

I wish I could've helped you this time, but I've been unemployed for 6-1/2 months now with no sign that things are getting better in my industry.

Whatever, please don't break up your collection!

You're doing the good work, Tam. This is evidence of it.

Looks like the dog ate my post. . . .

Just wanted to say, no thank you notes necessary. Thank YOU for all the free ice cream.

It's the least we can do. (Wait, something has always bothered me about that expression. Does it mean that, if I COULD have done less, I would have? Hmm. . . . Have to do some thinking about that.)
